Continental Network of Indigenous Women of the Americas – ECMIA
Esher Camac is a Quechua Woman and a Peruvian nationalized Costa Rican, theologian by profession, feminist, founder of the continental link of indigenous women in the Americas- ECMIA , and a fighter for indigenous rights, and women’s rights. She has participated in several processes at the United Nations including for the Commission on the Status of Women since 1995 and for the UN Human Rights Commission established to build the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Esther has also participated in the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity since 2000, as well as in its Permanent Forum on Indigenous Affairs.
