Paula Ribeiro Prist is a Brazilian biologist, with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Mackenzie University, and a Master, a PhD degree, and a Pos-Doc in Ecology by the Department of Ecology of the University of São Paulo (USP). She works with the effects of landscape structure on human health, more specifically investigating how habitat loss and fragmentation, land use changes, and diversity loss affect the transmission risk of zoonotic diseases. Her main research focuses are related to how landscape structure affects the transmission risk and occurrence of zoonotic diseases, and how can we manage landscape to make them “healthier” for people. Currently she is a PAHO/WHO technical advisor, working in the Health State Department of Minas Gerais with COVID and other zoonoses.
