Mexican Biologist works at the National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) since its foundation in 1992, currently serving as General Director of International Cooperation and Implementation. More than 25 years of experience in Biodiversity-Related Conventions, particularly:
CITES: Head of the Mexican Scientific Authority since 2000, Vice-Chair of the Plants Committee (2010-2015)
CBD: National Focal point for SBSTTA, GSPC, CHM, coordinated Mexico’s National Biodiversity Strategy (NBSAP), State level BSAP in 27 subnational entities. Member of Mexican Presidency team for COP13 in Cancun.
IPBES: National Focal Point.
UNEA: Author of resolutions on “Mainstreaming biodiversity” successfully adopted by UNEA2 and UNEA3, and chair of drafting groups.
IUCN-CSG: Mexico’s region Vice-Chair of the IUCN Crocodile Specialist Group since 2010.
CURRENTLY SERVING AS CBD SBSTTA CHAIR: for SBSTTA-23 (2019) and SBSTTA-24 (2021).
